Dr. Filatov brought the finest medical and surgical training to the practice of laser vision correction. Highlights of his education reveal a pioneering interest in refractive surgery and corneal mapping, as well as many awards of distinction. In 1996 he became Medical Director of Diamond Vision (which was nominated among the Top 50 LASIK practices in the US ) and in 2001, he founded the Filatov Eye Institute.

Dr. Filatov's over-riding research interest was to devise ways to achieve a success rate as close to 100% as possible. To that end, he designed the exclusive Filatov Preventive System to prevent the complications of refractive surgery. He maintained an informal network of centers of excellence worldwide, allowing him to be at the forefront of clinical and technological advances in laser vision correction.

As a referee to top peer-reviewed journals such as Survey of Ophthalmology and Journal of Refractive Surgery, Dr. Filatov was called upon to assess the validity of research conducted by other surgeons around the world.
